Doncs ja tenim casa de lloguer, una auto-caravana flamant, enorme, equipada i pesada. Un monstre preciós amb tota mena de gadgets, aparejos, trampilles, botons i catxarros, tots amb un sentit i tots per facilitar-te la vida. Sempre i quant els hi facis cas i compleixis fil per randa les seves exigències. Per què si t’oblides d’algun detall del seu funcionament, això és un puto desastre: salten plats, olles i coberts; et dutxes amb aigua congelada; o et despertes amb la gola més seca que el Desert del Gobi.
Avui hem anat fins a la península de la glacera Snæfelsjokull, molt a l’oest de l’Illa. El plan per demà és explorar aquest indret on Jules Verne va situar l’entrada al centre de la terra en el seu llibre Viatge al Centre de la Terra (esclar) i on els amants del New Age diuen que se situa el chackra cor del món. Per tot plegat, té pinta de ser un lloc molt especial. La mala sort ha estat que, tot arribant, una espessa boira que es podria tallar amb ganivet ha tapat tot el paratge. Hem trobat el càmping a Arnarstapi on volíem fer nit (nit amb sol, esclar) de miracle i ens han dit que portaven 2 setmanes així i que possiblement els nostres plans es veurien frustrats.
Per acabar-ho d’amanir, mentre apropàvem la motorhome al punt d’electricitat, se’ns ha quedat encallada al mig del fang i ens ha hagut de venir a remolcar un tractor. Hauria tingut més encant quedar-nos al mig d’una pista forestal enfilant cap a un trecking, però no, ha estat a 100 metres del bar del càmping. Prometem més glamour en properes aventures.
I això es el que ha donat de sí la jornada d’avui. Pobles de 3 cases (de més de 3 cases ja parlem de ciutats i amb més de 10 parlem de capitals), paisatges interminables, carreteres buides i tot per poder-ho gaudir i assaborir a la vertiginosa velocitat de 90 kms per hora, a bord de la nostra Queen of the Road.
